People in my flist are having hissing fits/are thoroughly entertained/don't give a flying fuck about Janet Jackson and the Super Bowl Half-Time Show fiasco/whatever. Please, help a confused Greek who has never left the vicinity of her homeland, to bridge the gap between our sports culture:

What's a Janet Jackson?

What is this Soup-er Bowl of which people speak?

Janet Jackson is a singer, one of Michael Jackson's sister, and I didn't see it myself, but she performed at the Super Bowl, and there's a news story about whatever happened here.

There's certainly a lot of talk about what exactly happened during the half-time show. The latest kurfluffle is that it was planned to help Janet's new album.

Whatever the case, it seems obvious that stars are hungry for attention and will do whatever it takes to one-up each other (i.e. Madonna kissing Britney). I mean, come on, what did Justin Timberlake think was going to happen when he pulled at her breast plate?! Did he think confetti was gonna come shooting out of there?!!!

I think that you need to pay more attention to the thing they call Justin Timberlake, apparently he was present as well *snickers*.

There's no football rule that I know called Janet Jackson, but I heard once, many years ago that Michael Wacko Jackson had a sister with that name.....

I'm with you -- really, couldn't care less. Except that I haven't bought a new nipple ring in a long time and I really want one like the one she had on http://drudgereport.com/jjt.jpg (boobies on parade warning)
